Being a part of the Mediterranean plain, Tel Aviv enjoys a hot summer, warm spring and autumn months and a wet winter. It is humid throughout the year and the months between October and May witness rainfall. Winters can see mercury dropping to below 5°C while the normal average summer temperature is around 26°C. Almost 90% of the year sees bright sunshine.

With a population of over 384,000 over 50.6 square kilometers, Tel Aviv has a density of population of 7,445 people per square kilometer. More than 90% of this population is Jewish. Arabs and others constitute the balance. One can find many foreign workers in the southern part of Tel Aviv. Most of them come from Asia while East Africa, Europe and Turkey also have minor contributions. A fact worth appreciation is that in comparison with its other westernized counterparts, Tel Aviv boasts of a lower crime rate.
Based on the local Municipal records, the unemployment rate is 6.9%. Almost 20% of the population is aged over 60 years. Of the city´s known 200 homeless people, a vast majority consists of male immigrants between 40–50 years. This, on a comparative basis with other westernized cities is a relatively low percentage of the city´s population which is almost 0.05%. Over 60% of these people are drug and alcohol addicts while about 25% are mentally ill. Tel Aviv has a bustling young population which is steadily growing. The population is expected to touch 450,000 by 2025.
